Humanitarian organisation CARE is inviting the Atlanta community to join a volunteer event to pack emergency supply kits for families recovering from disasters across the United States. The initiative aims to bring people together to provide essential support to communities affected by hurricanes, floods, wildfires and other crises.
The community event will take place on June 20, 2026, at LikeMinds ATL on the Beltline, where volunteers will assemble CARE PACKAGE kits containing essential hygiene supplies and recovery items. CARE hopes to prepare around 2,000 kits during the event.
The packed kits will be distributed to families facing the challenges of rebuilding after disasters. Alongside the volunteer activity, participants will have opportunities to learn more about humanitarian work through games, activities and community engagement.
The event is part of CARE’s wider celebration of the 80th anniversary of the CARE PACKAGE, a humanitarian initiative originally created after World War II to provide relief supplies to families recovering from conflict.
Since its creation, the CARE PACKAGE has become a symbol of global humanitarian assistance. Over the decades, millions of packages have supported communities across multiple regions, helping people access food, essential supplies and emergency support.
CARE has expanded its disaster response work in the United States in recent years, supporting affected communities through emergency supplies, financial assistance and partnerships with local organisations.
The organisation aims to continue this legacy by mobilising communities to prepare hundreds of thousands of CARE PACKAGE kits in the coming years. The programme focuses on providing practical assistance while helping families recover with dignity and hope.
Through volunteer participation and community action, CARE’s Atlanta initiative highlights the ongoing importance of humanitarian support during times of crisis.
