The Sutherland County Committee has approved a series of funding allocations aimed at supporting community development, youth services, and recreational facilities across the region.
A total of £95,000 in Community Regeneration Funding has been awarded to two key projects. Invershin Village Hall will receive £45,000 for a major refurbishment that includes a full roof replacement, upgraded heating and lighting systems, and new flooring. Meanwhile, the Golspie Youth Action Project has secured £50,000 to fund a full-time Charity Manager for one year, helping strengthen the organization’s governance, sustainability, and delivery of youth services across East Sutherland.
In addition, £150,500 in place-based investment funding has been allocated to improve play parks throughout Sutherland. The investment will support the refurbishment of equipment and the introduction of more inclusive play facilities for children and young people in communities including Lochinver, Kinlochbervie, Ardgay, Bonar Bridge, Dornoch, Golspie, and Embo.
The committee also approved £961.98 in Ward Discretionary Funding for Lochview Rural Training in Lairg for the 2026/27 financial year. Members noted that 21 local projects received support through the Ward Discretionary Budget between April 2025 and February 2026, benefiting community organizations, schools, sports clubs, and local initiatives across Sutherland.
The latest funding commitments reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen community infrastructure, enhance recreational opportunities, and support local organizations that play a vital role in the social and economic wellbeing of Sutherland residents.
