Kuala Lumpur, June 2026 – The Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) has announced six new initiatives backed by a RM65.5 million government allocation, aimed at strengthening the socioeconomic development of the Indian community.
The programmes cover entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, human capital, and community welfare, reflecting a comprehensive approach to uplift B40 and M40 households.
Among the highlights is Uyarvu MADANI, a startup accelerator grant programme providing capital, technical support, industry mentors, and access to commercial networks for Indian entrepreneurs. Education initiatives such as Celik MADANI and Kalvi MADANI will expand opportunities for young learners, while Arogya MADANI and Thunai MADANI focus on easing burdens for vulnerable groups and improving overall well‑being.
The Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) welcomed the announcement, noting that phased disbursement and performance monitoring will ensure transparency and effectiveness in achieving the programme’s objectives.
By combining targeted support in entrepreneurship, education, and welfare, MITRA’s initiatives aim to deliver long‑term impact, empowering the Indian community to thrive in Malaysia’s evolving economy.
