Los Gatos, Calif. — May 28, 2026 — Jewish Silicon Valley (JSV) has announced the launch of the Community Safety Fund, a new initiative designed to strengthen safety and security for Jewish institutions and organizations across San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The fund, anchored with support from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF), will provide flexible resources to address urgent and emerging security needs in light of escalating threats nationwide.
CEO Daniel Klein highlighted the urgency of the initiative, noting that antisemitism reached its deadliest levels in decades in 2025, while security costs for Jewish institutions in Silicon Valley have risen nearly 200 percent. “This fund will provide timely, responsive support for institutions working to keep people safe and connected,” he said.
The Community Safety Fund is open to nonprofits, schools, religious institutions, and community spaces serving the Jewish community. Eligible uses include supplemental security personnel, physical upgrades such as cameras and lighting, emergency preparedness, and training programs.
The initiative follows a series of community listening sessions conducted with SVCF, which identified safety and security as top priorities for Jewish organizations in the region. By pooling resources, the fund aims to ease financial strain while ensuring that local institutions remain safe and welcoming.
Jewish Silicon Valley is now accepting applications and donations to support the fund. Located on the Levy Family Campus in Los Gatos, JSV operates the Addison‑Penzak Jewish Community Center (APJCC) and provides cultural, educational, and advocacy programs for people of all faiths and backgrounds.
