Ireland has announced a new round of funding under the Community Centres Investment Fund 2026, providing €25 million to support refurbishment and upgrade projects for community centres nationwide.
The scheme is designed to help ensure community centres remain safe, accessible, energy-efficient, and suitable for local social, recreational, and support activities. Officials said the investment recognizes the important role community centres play in strengthening local communities and bringing residents together.
Funding will be available for capital refurbishment projects, with grants ranging from €10,000 to €25,000 for smaller works and between €25,001 and €100,000 for larger-scale upgrades.
Eligible projects include building repairs and renovations, accessibility improvements such as lifts and disabled access facilities, energy efficiency upgrades, kitchen and stage improvements, lighting enhancements, and the purchase of essential equipment and furnishings.
The fund is open to not-for-profit community organizations operating centres that are used by the public for community, recreational, or support-related purposes.
Applications must be submitted online through the MyPobal Portal. The application window opens on May 29, 2026, and closes on July 13, 2026.
Community groups are being encouraged to prepare supporting documentation in advance to ensure timely submission once applications officially open.
The investment reflects Ireland’s ongoing focus on improving local infrastructure and supporting community-led spaces that provide social inclusion, wellbeing, and public engagement opportunities across towns and rural areas nationwide.
