Rome — May 28, 2026 — The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Centro Studi di Politica Internazionale (CeSPI) have launched a new programme to strengthen financial education among migrant worker communities in Italy. The initiative equips Embassies, Consulates, and community leaders with certified training tools to promote financial inclusion and decent work.
Funded by the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (AMIF) 2021–2027 and the Italian Ministry of Interior, the programme builds on long‑standing collaboration between ILO and CeSPI. It introduces the ILO’s internationally recognized training‑of‑trainers methodology, combining technical instruction, mentoring, and certification to create a network of community‑based trainers.
Participants will gain practical skills in personal financial management, budgeting, savings, responsible borrowing, digital financial services, and financial planning. Once certified, they will deliver financial education directly within migrant communities, empowering workers and their families to access financial services safely and effectively.
The first round of training will take place in Rome from May 29–31, 2026, involving representatives from Latin American embassies and migrant associations. A second round is scheduled for June 11–13, 2026. By adapting ILO’s financial education materials to Italy’s context, the programme ensures relevance to the specific needs of migrant communities.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to financial inclusion, social integration, and economic empowerment, reinforcing the role of migrant workers in Italy’s sustainable development.
