Absa has supported a EUR456 million financing facility for Genser Energy Investments LLC, strengthening the energy company’s financial position and supporting its expansion across Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and other West African markets.
The facility was arranged by Absa’s Corporate and Investment Banking division alongside Rand Merchant Bank and Standard Bank. It will provide working capital for Genser Energy’s ongoing engineering, procurement and construction projects while giving the company greater financial flexibility to pursue its strategic growth plans.
The latest financing builds on Genser Energy’s previous transactions, including a USD428 million corporate refinancing for Genser Energy Ghana and a EUR200 million equipment loan facility for Genser Energy d’Ivoire, both completed in 2025.
Absa Bank Ghana Managing Director Edward Nartey Botchway said the transaction demonstrates the ability of African financial institutions to combine capital, expertise and regional reach to support major infrastructure projects.
Genser Energy CEO Baafour Asiamah-Adjei also welcomed the financing, saying the company remains focused on investing in large-scale infrastructure that delivers reliable energy, supports industrial activity and creates long-term value.
The financing comes after Genser Energy announced a strategic shareholder transition in July 2026 and is expected to support its next phase of growth. The company is also expected to commission its Gas Conditioning Plant and Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal later in 2026.
With the new financing, Genser Energy will have additional capacity to invest in Ghana while expanding its operations in Côte d’Ivoire and other strategic West African markets.
