Lantmännen Research Foundation has launched its annual research funding call, offering SEK 25 million to support projects focused on agriculture, food, health, bioenergy, and green materials.
The initiative aims to accelerate innovation and strengthen the future of sustainable farming and food systems by supporting researchers working on solutions with practical benefits for agriculture and the wider food value chain.
The foundation, which was established 40 years ago to address the need for more agricultural research and innovation, has received a recent SEK 300 million contribution from Lantmännen. The investment strengthens the foundation’s ability to fund long-term research and development projects.
This year’s funding programme focuses on three key areas: sustainable agriculture and machinery, future food and health solutions, and bioenergy and green materials.
Research projects in agriculture will focus on improving crop and livestock production through areas such as climate adaptation, precision farming, sustainable production methods, grain quality, feed efficiency, and animal health.
The food and health category will support research into future foods and ingredients, including innovations based on grains, legumes, and meat. Projects exploring nutrition, health benefits, whole grains, and improved food production processes are also included.
The bioenergy and green materials focus area will support research that uses agricultural resources and by-products to develop renewable fuels, sustainable materials, and bio-based products.
Lantmännen Research Foundation encourages researchers to collaborate with industry experts and agricultural stakeholders to develop solutions that can contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and profitable food system.
The foundation’s latest funding call highlights the growing importance of research and innovation in addressing challenges related to climate change, food security, and sustainable resource use.
