The Highland Council has announced a new round of Community Regeneration Funding (CRF), supported by £3,886,450.43 allocated through the Scottish Government’s Highland Coastal Communities Funding programme. The initiative aims to support community-led projects that improve local infrastructure, strengthen economies, and enhance quality of life across the Highlands.
The funding forms part of a wider regeneration effort that has already supported more than 400 projects between 2022 and 2025, delivering over £18 million in direct investment and unlocking more than £50 million in total project value. Officials say the programme continues to demonstrate strong impact through flexible, locally driven investment.
Rather than issuing a traditional open call for applications, the 2026/27 funding round will use an online platform called BeConnected as the primary entry point for project submissions. Community groups and organisations are encouraged to upload their proposals to the interactive map, which allows decision-makers to review grassroots initiatives across the region.
Projects submitted through BeConnected will be assessed by council teams and elected members based on alignment with funding priorities. Selected groups will then be invited to submit expressions of interest before progressing to a full application stage later in the year.
Council representatives have encouraged local organisations to take advantage of the funding opportunity, highlighting its potential to support community facilities, local economies, and long-term regeneration outcomes across the Highlands.
The Community Regeneration Funding programme is designed to streamline multiple funding streams into a single coordinated process, ensuring more efficient delivery of investment into priority communities across the region.
