The European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have launched a new grant competition to implement a youth internship programme in Ukraine’s local government bodies. The initiative is part of the EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine project and aims to strengthen community resilience by engaging young people in governance.
The programme will place 75 young people in internships across 15 communities in regions including Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv. Interns will gain hands‑on experience in local administration, helping to build stronger institutions while contributing to recovery efforts.
Eligible applicants are civil society and charitable organisations registered as legal entities in government‑controlled territories of Ukraine, with at least three years of relevant experience. The maximum budget for proposals is US$40,000, and the deadline for applications is 4 June 2026.
By linking youth directly to local governance, the programme seeks to empower the next generation of leaders, improve accountability, and foster innovation in community development.
