Ha Noi — May 27, 2026 — The Government of Viet Nam has approved a groundbreaking Programme to Support Sustainable Business (2026–2030), marking a major step toward embedding sustainability in the country’s private sector.
Signed under Decision No. 926/QD‑TTg, the programme provides a comprehensive framework to promote responsible and resilient enterprise growth, balancing economic efficiency, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship. It aligns with Viet Nam’s commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals and its Net Zero target by 2050.
The initiative aims to support 25,000 enterprises, household businesses, and cooperatives in transitioning to sustainable practices, while developing at least 20 exemplary business models. Priority areas include digital and green transformation, ESG frameworks, circular economy models, access to finance, innovation, and public‑private partnerships.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) contributed technical expertise through its Productivity Ecosystem for Decent Work project, supported by SECO and Norad. The project facilitated policy discussions, shared international experiences, and engaged ministries, business associations, and development partners to ensure alignment with global best practices.
According to Gulmira Asanbaeva, Project Manager at ILO Viet Nam, “Sustainable enterprises are at the heart of decent work. This programme creates a strong enabling environment for businesses to grow in ways that are productive, inclusive, and environmentally responsible.”
The approval reflects Viet Nam’s commitment to building a future of work that leaves no one behind, embedding sustainability at the core of enterprise development and strengthening the country’s long‑term economic resilience.
