The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) have launched a new initiative called the Compliance Edge Lab 2026–27, aimed at strengthening responsible business practices across Viet Nam’s rapidly growing electronics sector. The programme was officially announced in Ha Noi on 22 May 2026 and is designed to help suppliers move beyond basic compliance toward more sustainable and ethical business conduct.
The electronics industry remains one of Viet Nam’s most important economic sectors, employing over 1.5 million workers and generating around US$165 billion in exports in 2025. With global supply chains becoming increasingly focused on labour standards, sustainability, and due diligence, the initiative seeks to ensure that local manufacturers remain competitive while improving workplace conditions.
The Compliance Edge Lab will bring together up to 50 electronics suppliers from across the country for a structured programme running from June 2026 to October 2027. It focuses on practical, factory-level improvements supported through training, peer learning, and engagement with policymakers and industry stakeholders.
The programme includes targeted training on workplace cooperation, occupational safety and health, gender equality, supervisory skills, and ESG reporting. It also features industry seminars, sectoral dialogues, and multi-stakeholder forums designed to encourage collaboration between businesses, regulators, unions, and global partners. A quarterly publication titled “The Electronics Connect” will provide updates on regulations, industry trends, and best practices in responsible business conduct.
ILO representatives highlighted that the initiative builds on earlier programmes and is designed to create a shared platform where suppliers can learn from each other while improving operational standards. They emphasized that responsible business practices are not only a compliance requirement but also a strategic advantage for enterprises operating in global markets.
VCCI also noted that previous programmes have already shown improvements in enterprise compliance and operational practices. The new initiative is expected to further strengthen competitiveness, resilience, and long-term sustainability by helping firms align with international standards and evolving global supply chain expectations.
Electronics manufacturers across Viet Nam are invited to apply for participation, with selection based on their needs and commitment to engaging fully in the programme. Preference will be given to companies that have previously participated in related ILO and VCCI initiatives.
