The deadline for applying for Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants is December 20, 2024. These grants are available to assist primary producers, small businesses, and non-profit organizations affected by a disaster with the costs of clean-up and reinstatement.
The aim of this assistance program, part of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, is to help communities recover after a disaster. The Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Grants Scheme offers exceptional circumstances grants to primary producers to cover the expenses of cleaning up and reinstating their enterprises that have suffered direct damage due to a qualifying disaster.
Under this scheme, the maximum grant amount is $75,000. An initial claim of up to $10,000 can be made with evidence of direct damage required, such as photographs, quotations, and receipts. A subsequent claim of up to $65,000 is available, requiring full evidence of payment.
The funds can be used for various purposes, including conducting safety inspections, hiring equipment for cleaning, purchasing cleaning materials, employing personnel for cleaning, removing debris, repairing buildings and equipment, purchasing essential equipment for immediate operation, as well as other necessary activities for resuming operations.
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be primary producers with an ABN, have a business affected by the disaster, be responsible for the claimed costs, and intend to re-establish their enterprise in the disaster area. Additional eligibility criteria apply for those with enterprises located outside the disaster area but with damaged equipment within it.
