The Region Norrbotten’s art developer, in partnership with KKV Luleå and art magazine Loosenart, is calling on photographers – both artists and journalists – to apply for a 6-week production residency opportunity. The selected photographer will have access to a studio space at KKV Luleå, enabling collaboration with regional artists and professionals. Additional trips and study visits can be arranged based on the artist’s preferences. The residency includes a presentation of the artist’s work to local audiences.
Benefits of the residency include a tax-free scholarship of SEK 20,000, support for materials and travel costs up to SEK 15,000, accommodation in a studio apartment in central Luleå, workspace at KKV Luleå, tailored activities based on the artist’s interests, an opportunity to showcase work in Rome in Autumn 2025, and the potential for one work to be added to Region Norrbotten’s art collection.
Desirable candidates should have a freelance status with their own company and an interest or experience working in the Arctic. Eligibility criteria require residency in an EU country and at least 5 years of professional visual artist experience.
Applicants must provide a CV, a motivation letter detailing why they want to participate in the Luleå residency and their planned work, a portfolio with up to 5 projects and 3 images per project, links to websites/social media/previous projects, and contact information.
