The State Government of Victoria is providing grants to final year students through the Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy Grant Program, with a deadline of 25 February 2025.
The main objectives of these grants are to increase the number of speech pathologists and occupational therapists in regional and rural areas of Victoria, help recipients settle into these communities, and enhance access to speech pathology and occupational therapy services in these regions.
The grants amount to a maximum of $15,000, divided into two payments six months apart. The first payment of $7,500 assists with relocation and initial setup in a regional or rural area, while the second payment of $7,500 is given to those still employed in these areas at the time of the second payment.
To qualify for the grants in 2024, 2025, and 2026, applicants must meet various criteria related to citizenship, employment in rural or regional locations, professional registration, education completion, and other factors. Ineligible applicants include those who completed their studies before March 1, 2023, or after February 24, 2026, and those not employed as speech pathologists or occupational therapists in specified locations.
Applications must be submitted online with required documentation such as academic transcripts, proof of identity, and employment contracts. Further details can be found on the State Government of Victoria website.
