The Washington Center for Equitable Growth is seeking to support early career scholars whose research focuses on how inequality impacts economic growth and is relevant to policy. They are particularly interested in scholars who can engage with nonacademic audiences and promote diversity in the economics profession and social sciences.
The organization emphasizes the importance of diverse perspectives in research and aims to elevate diverse voices to influence debates and policy solutions. Grants are available for scholars in various priority research areas, including macroeconomic growth, fiscal policy, labor markets, human capital and well-being, economic mobility, and market structure.
Graduate student grants are $15,000 for one year, while early career scholar grants are $30,000 for one to two years. Eligibility criteria include being a graduate student in a U.S. Ph.D. program or an early career scholar at a U.S. college or university within the past 8 years. International students are also eligible, but funds may need to be administered through their institution.
Applications will be evaluated based on their relevance to Equitable Growth’s priorities, the scholar’s potential to engage beyond academia, the potential impact of the research on policy, methodology, and more. For further details and to apply, visit the Washington Center for Equitable Growth website.
