The United States Embassy in Georgia is inviting applications for the Global Undergraduate Exchange (Global UGRAD) Program, with a deadline of December 15, 2024. The program is a fully funded academic and cultural exchange initiative designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and promote global connections. Students from over 60 countries have the opportunity to study for a semester at U.S. universities.
The program aims to foster mutual understanding between Americans and individuals from other nations by providing enriching exchange experiences that develop academic, cross-cultural, and leadership skills. Participants are encouraged to enhance their academic knowledge and professional competencies, gain a deeper understanding of the U.S., establish social networks with U.S. institutions and communities, and actively engage in civic life.
Eligibility criteria include being a citizen of the applying country, being at least 18 years old by August of the relevant academic year, being a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing, having at least one year of undergraduate study remaining after May of the program year, and demonstrating English proficiency. Applicants must also show a commitment to community service, with preference given to those with limited experience outside their home countries. Participants are expected to return to their home country upon program completion.
Certain individuals are ineligible for the program, including U.S. citizens and residents, current participants in U.S.-based academic programs, individuals residing outside participating countries, and those who have previously taken part in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs. Family members of certain U.S. government employees are also ineligible.
