The U.S. Embassy in Montenegro has set a deadline of December 15, 2024, for applications to the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program. This program offers a scholarship for one semester of non-degree, undergraduate academic study at a U.S. college or university to a diverse group of emerging student leaders.
The program aims to expand participants’ knowledge of the United States and improve their leadership abilities through academic coursework, community service, and professional development activities.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must be citizens of Montenegro, enrolled as full-time undergraduate students in good standing at an accredited academic institution in Montenegro, at least 18 years old, and have completed at least their first semester of undergraduate study by January 2025. They should also have at least one semester of undergraduate study remaining at their home university after completing the Global UGRAD Program.
Preference will be given to applicants with little or no prior experience in the United States or outside their home countries. Applicants must commit to returning to their home country upon completing the program and must achieve a satisfactory TOEFL score after being selected as finalists or alternates.
Certain individuals are ineligible for the program, including U.S. citizens and permanent residents, those currently participating in academic programs in the U.S., and individuals who have previously participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs for more than six weeks without fulfilling their home residency requirement.
