The Health Tech Platform, African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), and African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) have announced the call for submissions for the third edition of the Emerging Technologies Media Award of Excellence. This award recognizes journalists who report on African-led technologies and innovations aimed at advancing the continent’s socioeconomic transformation. The objective is to highlight science, technology, and innovation in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, health, and infrastructure to support the African Union Agenda 2063. The award categories include print journalism, radio journalism, television journalism, and online media, with prizes ranging from USD 1,000 to USD 5,000. Eligible entries must have been published or broadcast between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, and focus on the use of emerging technologies in Africa for water, food, and energy security. African journalists working for African media outlets are encouraged to apply by submitting their work in English or French to the AFIDEP secretariat.
