Ireland’s Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment has launched a new Excellence in Collective Bargaining Award as part of the CIPD in Ireland HR Awards 2027.
Sponsored by the department, the new award will recognize organizations that demonstrate effective collective bargaining, constructive social dialogue and meaningful engagement between employers, employees and their representatives.
The new category follows Ireland’s first Action Plan to Promote Collective Bargaining, published by the department in November 2025. The award is intended to highlight organizations that demonstrate strong workplace partnerships and promote best practices in employee and employer relations.
Minister of State Alan Dillon said collective bargaining and effective social dialogue can contribute to productive, fair and sustainable workplaces. He highlighted their role in supporting fair pay and working conditions, improving productivity, managing workplace change and preventing or resolving industrial disputes.
The CIPD in Ireland HR Awards provide national recognition for organizations, teams and individuals demonstrating innovation and excellence in people management. The new category will give employers an opportunity to showcase how collaboration with employees and their representatives contributes to positive workplace outcomes.
Entries for the CIPD in Ireland HR Awards 2027 opened on August 26, 2026, with submissions closing on October 21. Finalists will be announced on December 1, followed by interviews and second-round judging in February 2027.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at Dublin’s Mansion House on March 5, 2027. The new collective bargaining category is expected to provide a platform for sharing effective workplace practices and demonstrating the wider economic and social benefits of constructive employer-employee relationships.
