The Government of Nova Scotia has announced more than $176,000 in funding for 2SLGBTQIA+ community organizations and initiatives, supporting 11 local projects as part of its new 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Impact Grant program.
The funding, announced by the province’s Office of Equity and Anti-Racism on June 10, 2026, is part of the broader 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan introduced earlier this year. Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening inclusion, improving access to services, and supporting safer and more connected communities across Nova Scotia.
Among the funded projects is LakeCity Works in Dartmouth, which will receive $25,000 to expand its Queer Careers program. The initiative provides paid work placements, skills training, and peer support to help 2SLGBTQIA+ participants gain employment and build long-term career opportunities.
In addition to community grants, the provincial government has allocated $50,000 to support Truro Pride in hosting a provincial conference this fall. The event is expected to bring together organizations and advocates from across the province to share knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and build capacity within the 2SLGBTQIA+ non-profit sector.
Provincial officials said the investments reflect a commitment to ensuring that all residents feel safe, welcomed, and supported, while also recognizing the contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in Nova Scotia. The funding is part of a wider effort to support community-based organizations and promote inclusion through targeted programs.
Community leaders involved in the initiative said the funding will help expand opportunities, improve representation, and strengthen networks across the province. The grants are being delivered through the 2025–26 fiscal year and are part of ongoing provincial efforts to support equity-focused programming.
The government noted that eligible organizations can apply for grants of up to $25,000 per project under the program, with additional funding available through related community support initiatives.
