The Township of Wellington North has opened applications for its 2027 Community Development Fund, offering approximately $40,000 in financial support for local organizations and community-led initiatives. The funding aims to encourage community development projects, events, programs, and activities that directly benefit residents across the township.
The fund is designed to support initiatives that address local needs, promote community participation, and encourage long-term sustainability. Eligible applicants include local groups and organizations proposing events, programs, or activities that contribute to community engagement and development.
Funding allocations vary depending on the type of initiative. Signature events can receive up to $2,500 in cash support, while local events may be eligible for up to $1,000, either as a cash donation or in-kind support such as use of space. Programs are eligible for up to $1,000 in the form of space usage, and special activities can receive up to $1,000 in cash support.
According to the township, the program is intended not only to provide financial assistance but also to strengthen long-term community benefits by enabling local groups to deliver meaningful and sustainable initiatives. The funding pool was allocated as part of the 2026 municipal budget and will support approved projects taking place in 2027.
Applications for the Community Development Fund must be submitted by September 30, after which proposals will be reviewed by staff and approved through council processes. Successful applicants will be notified in January 2027, allowing time for planning and implementation of funded activities.
