Daystar Power has successfully completed and commissioned 6.884 MWp of solar power capacity across four Nestlé production sites in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Senegal. The project represents a significant step in expanding renewable energy adoption within the region’s industrial sector and supports Nestlé’s sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
The solar portfolio includes two installations in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with a combined capacity of 3,447 kWp, a 2,547-kWp solar facility at Nestlé’s manufacturing site in Tema, Ghana, and an 890-kWp installation in Dakar, Senegal. All four systems are now fully operational and are expected to improve energy reliability while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
According to Daystar Power, the installations are designed to generate measurable environmental benefits by lowering greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening energy resilience for industrial operations. The project aligns with the growing demand for decentralized energy solutions across Africa, where businesses are increasingly investing in captive and rooftop solar systems to manage rising energy costs and improve operational efficiency.
The Nestlé project is part of Daystar Power’s expanding commercial and industrial solar portfolio. In recent months, the company has also announced renewable energy projects for major manufacturers, including a 5.2-MWp solar plant for Société de Ciment de Côte d’Ivoire, a 1.9-MWp installation for Olam Agri Ghana, and a 2.6-MW solar project for GZ Industries in Nigeria. These developments demonstrate increasing industrial interest in renewable energy as companies seek reliable and cost-effective power solutions.
The broader African solar market is experiencing rapid growth. According to industry data, rooftop, captive, and commercial solar systems accounted for approximately 44% of all new solar capacity installed across Africa in 2025. This trend reflects the increasing role of distributed renewable energy in supporting industrial productivity, reducing energy expenses, and addressing challenges related to grid instability and diesel generator dependence.
By delivering nearly 7 MW of solar capacity to Nestlé’s facilities, Daystar Power is helping strengthen sustainable manufacturing practices in West Africa while supporting the region’s energy transition. The project also lays the foundation for future collaboration between Daystar Power and Nestlé, potentially leading to additional renewable energy investments across the region.
