The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced a major investment in New Anthony’s Farm Group (NAF) to expand Sri Lanka’s poultry production, create jobs, and strengthen opportunities for smallholder farmers.
The IFC investment of up to $10 million will support NAF’s efforts to improve operational efficiency, increase production capacity, and expand access to safe, affordable poultry products across Sri Lanka. The funding includes support from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program Private Sector Window.
The expansion project is expected to create more than 900 jobs while benefiting at least 200 smallholder farmers through contract farming and outgrower programs. Small farmers currently contribute a significant share of NAF’s poultry production, and the investment aims to improve productivity, strengthen market access, and increase rural incomes.
The company, known as Sri Lanka’s only fully antibiotic-free poultry producer, will also expand its retail and franchise network to make natural poultry products more accessible to consumers.
With the support of IFC, New Anthony’s Farm Group is expected to increase poultry exports and contribute to Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange earnings. At full capacity, the company aims to export nearly 1,936 metric tons of poultry annually, representing a significant increase compared with previous levels.
In 2024, NAF accounted for more than 90 percent of Sri Lanka’s poultry meat exports, highlighting its important role in the country’s growing agribusiness sector.
Sri Lanka’s poultry industry plays a key role in providing affordable protein and supporting food security. However, many smallholder farmers continue to face challenges related to productivity, efficiency, and access to formal markets.
The IFC partnership with New Anthony’s Farm Group is expected to strengthen the poultry value chain, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and support long-term growth in Sri Lanka’s domestic and export markets.
The investment marks a new phase for the company and reflects growing confidence in Sri Lanka’s agribusiness potential.
