The International Labour Organization (ILO) and Switzerland have launched a new initiative to strengthen productivity, improve working conditions, and support economic recovery in Ukraine.
The five-year “Productivity Ecosystems for Decent Work” project will help Ukrainian enterprises, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, become more competitive while promoting safer workplaces and better employment opportunities.
The initiative is part of Switzerland’s Competitiveness for Recovery Ukraine 2026–2030 Programme and is funded through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The ILO will lead the labour market component, supporting businesses and workers as Ukraine continues its reconstruction and economic transformation.
The project aims to address productivity challenges caused by the ongoing impacts of war by helping companies improve skills, strengthen workplace practices, and reduce pressure on employees. The ILO will focus on sectors including manufacturing, agriculture-related industries, and other key areas of the Ukrainian economy.
The initiative promotes the idea that productivity depends not only on technology and investment but also on skilled workers, social dialogue, and decent working conditions. It will support workforce training, occupational safety, stronger labour policies, and cooperation between governments, employers, and workers.
ILO representatives emphasized that protecting workers’ rights and increasing inclusion, including opportunities for women and veterans, are essential for building a stronger economy.
Through this partnership, the ILO and Switzerland aim to support Ukrainian enterprises, create more inclusive economic opportunities, and contribute to long-term recovery and sustainable growth.
