Dublin — May 28, 2026 — Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD has announced capital grants worth €228,065 to eight arts and culture organisations across Ireland. The funding, provided under Stream E of the Cultural Capital Scheme, will support the upgrading and development of facilities, strengthening the country’s cultural infrastructure.
Stream E, launched in June 2023, has since benefited 46 organisations nationwide, including the latest recipients. The scheme, valued at €1.4 million, was designed to enhance existing arts and culture centres, with a particular focus on projects that reduce carbon footprints and expand capacity for artistic production.
Speaking at the announcement, Minister O’Donovan emphasized the importance of investing in cultural spaces. “Culture and the arts are essential to a well‑rounded society, providing opportunities for education, expression and community engagement. Capital supports ensure the arts remain accessible and sustainable for future generations,” he said.
The scheme is now closed as funds have been fully allocated. However, the Minister confirmed that a new capital funding programme is being designed, with €6 million allocated in Budget 2026 to continue supporting arts and culture organisations across the country. Details of eligibility and specifications will be announced in the coming months.
This latest investment underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that Ireland’s arts and culture sector remains vibrant, resilient, and accessible to communities nationwide.
