New Delhi — May 28, 2026 — The Government of India has unveiled the National e‑Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NESDA) 2025 portal, a new platform designed to evaluate the quality and reach of digital public services across states, union territories, and central ministries. Developed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the initiative aims to benchmark service delivery performance and encourage adoption of best practices nationwide.
The portal was formally introduced on 25 May 2026 during a meeting chaired by DARPG Additional Secretary Sarita Chauhan, where nodal officers from central ministries and state administrations were briefed on the framework’s methodology, submission procedures, and reporting mechanisms.
NESDA is a biennial assessment framework aligned with the United Nations E‑Government Survey’s Online Service Index, adapted to India’s federal governance system. It evaluates the availability, accessibility, and completeness of online services, highlighting gaps and promoting citizen‑centric improvements. The framework complements broader national efforts to modernize governance and build a digitally empowered civil service.
Under the 2025 cycle, NESDA will assess 59 mandatory services delivered by each state and union territory, alongside 43 services provided by central ministries. Coverage spans key sectors including finance, education, labour, social welfare, environment, transport, and corporate affairs.
The assessment criteria include accessibility, ease of use, information security, privacy, service completion, open government data, e‑participation, and integration of emerging technologies. The NESDA 2025 portal will serve as the central hub for data collection, consultations, and review meetings, ensuring smooth coordination between DARPG and participating governments.
By expanding the scope of evaluation and strengthening digital service delivery, NESDA 2025 represents a significant step toward transparent, efficient, and citizen‑focused governance in India.
