The deadline for applications is December 16, 2024. The Brand X is seeking applications from disabled individuals or groups in Sydney, including those who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, neurodivergent, and those with complex abilities, for their performing arts residency program called Ground Zero.
The program aims to support artists in various performance disciplines such as theatre, dance, music, and spoken word to develop a short work that will be performed in a cabaret-style night alongside four other Sydney-based artists with disabilities. Benefits include a flexible program structure, artist fee of $1500 per project, stipend for production costs, bursary funding for access requirements, studio development time, rehearsal space, accessible performance nights, and production support.
Eligibility criteria include being based in Sydney, being disabled, d/Deaf, or neurodivergent, and having a focus on developing innovative performance ideas. Projects should be audience-ready by the end of the rehearsal week, with a preference for completed shows rather than works in progress. Applications will be reviewed based on the artist’s practice, ability to deliver the project, the importance of the opportunity, existing audience, risk-taking in the work, and diversity representation.
