The Farm Foundation Agricultural Scholars program is designed to involve graduate-level scholars in government and agricultural policy work through a year-long series of immersive learning experiences. The program aims to educate graduate student scholars in agricultural economics or related fields by providing opportunities to deepen their understanding of production agriculture, agribusiness, and government. The goal is to inspire and train the next generation of agricultural economists interested in agricultural policy, commodity market analysis, agricultural finance, and other applied areas of economics.
Program Highlights:
– Scholars will participate in various activities over the course of 12 months, including attending Farm Foundation Round Table meetings, working with ERS senior analysts, presenting research, meeting with industry executives, and participating in forums and events.
– They will also have the opportunity to attend key agricultural conferences and events, visit agriculture and agribusinesses in Washington, DC, and connect with professionals in the field.
– Eligible costs covered by the award include meeting registration, travel, accommodation, and materials. If a selected student is unable to participate, a replacement will be chosen to ensure the program’s success.
Eligibility:
– Students must be nominated by their college dean or department head and be U.S. citizens enrolled in a graduate program related to applied sciences, such as agricultural economics, at an accredited land grant college or university.
