The Arthritis National Research Foundation and Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance have announced the launch of the 2025 Rheum for Kids: Pediatric Skin and Joint Grant to support early career researchers studying diseases affecting pediatric joints and skin. The Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) is a collaborative network of pediatric dermatologists facilitating research studies and collaboration. By combining resources and expertise, PeDRA aims to accelerate research efforts for the benefit of children and families affected by dermatologic conditions.
The primary goal of the grant is to nurture the next generation of leaders in pediatric skin and joint disease research by providing financial support for innovative projects. This initiative encourages cross-disciplinary research teams in pediatric dermatology and rheumatology to advance impactful research endeavors. Applications are open to researchers investigating various pediatric rheumatologic and dermatologic conditions, such as juvenile arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, dermatomyositis, and morphea, or related mechanisms affecting the skin and joints.
The grant will provide funding of up to $50,000 for a one-year period. Eligible applicants include qualified investigators with promising research trajectories and strong mentorship support, ideally within seven years of their latest training stage. Preference will be given to postdoctoral researchers and early career investigators transitioning to independent roles. Applicants must hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree or equivalent and be affiliated with a qualified U.S. nonprofit research institution.
