The mini-grants competition in Kyrgyzstan has successfully concluded, providing support to national and local actors, including community-based organizations, working on conflict transformation and social cohesion through Media and Information Literacy (MIL)-based approaches. The initiative is designed to strengthen critical thinking, build resilience against harmful content, and promote a culture of peaceful communication. It places particular focus on empowering youth and vulnerable groups such as women and children.
The selected projects are expected to create opportunities for inclusive dialogue and foster interaction among diverse cultural, ethnic, and social groups. By developing competencies for responsible media content creation, the initiatives aim to reduce the spread of hate speech and disinformation while enhancing dialogue, inclusion, and social cohesion across communities.
A wide range of organizations and individuals were announced as winners of the competition, including journalists, media outlets, community foundations, and local councils. Their efforts will contribute to building stronger, more resilient communities in Kyrgyzstan by using media literacy as a tool to counter division and strengthen unity.
