Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND), a leading diversified technology company, announced the winners of its Kid Witness News (KWN) program in India. The initiative, part of a global effort by Panasonic, aims to raise awareness about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among school students by equipping them with digital storytelling skills and encouraging them to become advocates for social and environmental change. One winning video from each category—primary (ages 10–12) and secondary (ages 13–18)—was selected to represent India at the Panasonic Kid Witness News Global Summit, a worldwide contest scheduled for October 2025.
Mr. Tadashi Chiba, MD & CEO of Panasonic Life Solutions India, highlighted the company’s commitment to societal impact and youth development. He noted that this is the 36th year of the KWN program and only the second time India has participated. He praised the students’ videos for creatively addressing environmental and social challenges, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and congratulating the winners.
Ms. Anju Malhotra, GM of Manufacturing HR & CSR at Panasonic Life Solutions India, emphasized that the initiative reflects the founder Konosuke Matsushita’s vision of inclusive business serving society. She explained that the program fosters creativity and imagination by leveraging Panasonic’s technology, particularly through filmmaking using Panasonic cameras.
For this edition, Panasonic Life Solutions India partnered with six leading schools in Gurugram: Heritage Xperiential Learning School, International School, Kunskapsskolan International School, Lotus Valley International School, Scottish High International School, Shalom Hills International School, and Suncity School. Students participated in hands-on workshops to learn to operate Panasonic Lumix cameras and other equipment. Using these skills, they created videos on a selected SDG and submitted them for the program.
Launched in 1989, the Kid Witness News program provides students worldwide with opportunities to explore digital storytelling and media production. It empowers young people by offering access to technology, training in video production, and digital media skills, fostering creativity and media literacy. Over the years, KWN has been implemented in numerous countries, supporting Panasonic’s ongoing efforts in education, youth skill development, and community engagement.
