A new regional hub of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), named FACT, has been launched to support Ukraine and Moldova in combating disinformation. This initiative aims to strengthen efforts to detect and analyze manipulation campaigns, with a particular focus on Russian disinformation. FACT will also monitor the electoral period in Moldova, contributing to safeguarding electoral integrity in the region.
With the addition of the FACT hub, the EDMO network now comprises 15 regional hubs, extending its disinformation monitoring and response capabilities across the entire European Union and beyond.
Alongside the launch of the new hub, six existing EDMO hubs—whose funding was initially set to end in 2025—will continue their activities. All hubs, including FACT, were selected through a competitive call for proposals and are supported by approximately €8.8 million in funding from the Digital Europe Programme, covering operational periods of 30 to 36 months.
EDMO and its regional hubs operate independently of national and EU public authorities. Each hub includes organisations committed to upholding the highest standards of professional integrity, ethical conduct, and editorial independence.
