The Minns Labor Government in New South Wales is advancing its efforts to promote economic prosperity by supporting more women in establishing and managing their own businesses. Through the Supporting Women in Business program, the government is providing practical assistance in business planning and development.
More than $1 million in government grants has been allocated to five selected organisations. These organisations will deliver programs that offer women targeted support such as training, mentorship, networking, financial assistance, and business development guidance.
The funded programs specifically aim to assist women from diverse and underserved backgrounds, including those with disabilities, carers, multicultural communities, women living in Western Sydney, regional, rural, and remote areas, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
Each organisation will implement projects tailored to the unique needs of their focus groups. For example, the Rural Woman Cooperative’s project, Thriving Together: Business Success and Financial Empowerment for Rural Women, will offer business training, peer mentoring, and networking opportunities to women in non-metropolitan regions of NSW.
Another initiative, The Phoenix Entrepreneur by Women Veterans Australia, is an eight-week accelerator program supporting 30 female veterans with business coaching and scale-up strategies, led by experienced business owners.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to expand women’s economic participation and promote gender equality, with a focus on increasing female business ownership and leadership opportunities across New South Wales.
