Action Against Hunger is assessing humanitarian needs in Venezuela following two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, which affected northern regions of the country, including areas near Caracas. The organization has deployed teams to evaluate the evolving situation and identify the most urgent needs of affected communities.
Despite limited connectivity and communication disruptions caused by the earthquakes, Action Against Hunger’s field teams remain operational and are actively monitoring conditions while maintaining contact with local partners. The organization is conducting rapid assessments to determine priority areas for humanitarian assistance and is prepared to launch emergency response activities as needs become clearer.
Action Against Hunger is also participating in coordination meetings with humanitarian organizations and national stakeholders to support a coordinated emergency response. A meeting of the Humanitarian Country Team has been scheduled to assess the overall situation and define initial response measures.
While the emergency is concentrated mainly in central Venezuela, the organization’s operations in other parts of the country continue to function, allowing it to maintain logistical capacity and preparedness for a broader humanitarian response if required.
The organization stated that it will continue monitoring developments and provide updated information as additional assessments become available and the emergency situation evolves.
