The Government of India is establishing a new technology centre in Gaya, Bihar, to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), expand advanced manufacturing capabilities, and create new opportunities for industrial development in the region.
The upcoming facility in Khizirsarai will be developed with an investment of ₹170 crore and will provide modern manufacturing services, technical training, and business support for enterprises across southern Bihar. The centre is expected to help local industries adopt advanced technologies and improve their competitiveness in domestic and global markets.
The new facility is part of India’s wider network of technology centres aimed at supporting MSMEs through access to modern equipment, skilled workforce development, and industry-focused innovation services. These centres play a role in strengthening manufacturing capacity and promoting technology-driven economic growth.
The Gaya centre will be built on 20 acres of land provided by the Bihar government, with a planned built-up area of around 16,800 square metres. The campus will include production facilities, training spaces, administrative buildings, hostels, and other support infrastructure.
The facility will focus on key manufacturing sectors including general engineering, heavy engineering, and textile industries. It will provide advanced services such as CNC machining, computer-aided design and manufacturing support, rapid prototyping, and tool room facilities for moulds, dies, and industrial components.
The centre will also introduce Industry 4.0 capabilities, renewable energy solutions, and digital manufacturing tools to help MSMEs modernise their operations. Businesses will have access to technologies that can improve productivity, quality control, and product development.
Skill development will be a major focus of the project. Training programmes will cover areas such as automation, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, embedded systems, VLSI technology, data analytics, CAD/CAM systems, and industrial quality management.
Alongside technical training, the centre will offer business support services including product design assistance, market research, supply chain guidance, regulatory support, digital marketing, and innovation development. These services aim to help smaller businesses expand and integrate into larger industrial networks.
The technology centre is expected to train approximately 7,000 people every year and support more than 1,000 MSMEs annually. It will serve businesses across Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad, and Munger districts.
By improving access to advanced manufacturing tools and industry-ready skills, the Gaya technology centre is expected to strengthen the industrial ecosystem of the Magadh region and contribute to India’s broader goal of building a more innovative and self-reliant manufacturing economy.
