A major step toward strengthening industrial development in Bihar was marked on June 15, 2026, with the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new Technology Centre in Khizarsarai, Gaya. The event was attended by Jitan Ram Manjhi and Samrat Choudhary, who inaugurated the project through a traditional Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. The initiative forms part of the Government of India’s efforts to promote self-reliance, enhance manufacturing capabilities, and strengthen the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
The Technology Centre will be established with a total investment of ₹170 crore. Of this amount, ₹86 crore has been allocated for civil infrastructure development, while ₹84 crore will be invested in advanced plant and machinery. The facility will be constructed on a 20-acre site provided by the Bihar Government and will include a built-up area of approximately 16,800 square meters. The campus will feature dedicated production and training blocks, administrative facilities, utility infrastructure, a multipurpose hall, hostel accommodations, and residential quarters for staff.
The Centre has been designed to support critical industrial sectors such as general engineering, heavy engineering, and textile testing. It will serve MSMEs across several districts in Bihar, including Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad, and Munger. By providing access to advanced technologies, technical expertise, and skilled manpower development, the facility is expected to help local enterprises improve productivity, innovation, and competitiveness.
A key objective of the Technology Centre is to bridge existing technological gaps within the MSME sector. Businesses will gain access to specialized services such as tool room facilities for moulds, dies, jigs, and fixtures, CNC machining, CAD/CAM/CAE design support, rapid prototyping, and Industry 4.0 technologies. These services are intended to assist enterprises in adopting modern manufacturing practices and improving product quality.
The Centre will also focus heavily on workforce development through industry-oriented training programs. Specialized courses in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), quality control systems, and advanced manufacturing techniques will be offered to students, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals. These programs aim to equip participants with skills that align with current and future industry requirements.
According to project plans, the Technology Centre is expected to train approximately 7,000 individuals every year through a combination of short-term and long-term training programs. In addition, it aims to provide tooling support, technical assistance, and job work services to more than 1,000 MSMEs annually. This combination of skill development and industrial support is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the region.
The project is anticipated to become a catalyst for industrial growth in southern Bihar by promoting technological modernization and strengthening local manufacturing ecosystems. By helping MSMEs integrate into national and international supply chains, the Centre is expected to create new business opportunities, improve employment prospects, and enhance regional competitiveness.
Beyond its economic impact, the initiative is expected to contribute to the long-term development of the historic Magadh region by creating a stronger industrial foundation and encouraging innovation-driven growth. As construction progresses, the Technology Centre is poised to become an important hub for technology transfer, entrepreneurship development, and sustainable industrial expansion in Bihar.
