SUNeVision Holdings Ltd., Hong Kong’s largest data centre provider and the technology arm of Sun Hung Kai Properties, has been recognised at the UNSDG Achievement Awards Hong Kong 2025 with both the Sustainable Organisation Merit Award and the Recognised Project Award. This marks the third consecutive year the company has received the accolade, distinguishing it as the only data centre provider to be honoured. The awards acknowledge SUNeVision’s consistent commitment to embedding ESG principles into its operations and adopting green technologies that advance sustainability and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainability is integrated across all stages of the company’s operations, from planning and construction to operations and financial structuring, with a strong focus on energy-efficient infrastructure to mitigate environmental impact and address climate change.
In addition to its corporate-wide recognition, SUNeVision received the Recognised Project Award for its collaborative renewable energy initiative with CLP Power Hong Kong Limited. The project involves sourcing solar power from Hong Kong’s first privately funded solar farm on a landfill, operated by Green Valley Landfill Limited, through site-specific CLP Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The solar farm, now completed, is expected to generate 1.2 million kWh of renewable electricity annually, offsetting a portion of the company’s data centre campus energy consumption and reinforcing its commitment to low-carbon operations. SUNeVision has also offset 100% of its general building electricity consumption via International Renewable Energy Certificates, supporting Hong Kong’s transition to a low-carbon city.
Helen Lo, Director of Commercial at SUNeVision, emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainable growth, stating that while the firm expands its data centre capacity to meet increasing AI and cloud demand, it remains dedicated to green infrastructure and innovative ESG solutions. SUNeVision continues to advance green transformation through energy-saving equipment, renewable energy adoption, and responsible supply chain practices. Key initiatives include high-efficiency water cooling systems, solar panel installations, and the use of i2Cool radiative cooling paint across the MEGA Campus.
SUNeVision’s sustainable facilities have received global recognition, including LEED Gold certifications for its MEGA IDC, MEGA Gateway, and MEGA Plus hyperscale data centres. Additionally, MEGA-i, MEGA Plus, and MEGA Two have achieved the highest ‘Excellent in Management’ rating under the BEAM Plus Existing Buildings V2.0 Selective Scheme. These achievements underscore SUNeVision’s vision of developing environmentally responsible, future-ready data centres that balance operational efficiency with environmental stewardship, contributing to a sustainable industry and wider community.
