Unlocking Opportunities: A Guide to 2025 Programs and Grants for Nigerians

Dated: June 9, 2025

Opportunities abound for Nigerians in 2025 and beyond, with numerous programs and grants opening applications across various sectors. These initiatives aim to foster education, entrepreneurship, research, and skill development, offering significant support for individuals and organizations. From EdTech fellowships to research grants and language assistant programs, these calls for applications provide pathways for growth and impact within Nigeria and internationally.

EdTech Fellowship for Inclusive Learning

Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has announced the call for applications for the third cohort of the EdTech Fellowship. This program supports high-potential EdTech ventures in Nigeria, focusing on making education more inclusive through technology. The third cohort is set to commence in 2025.

  • Benefits for Participants:
    • Exposure to a vibrant network of investors.
    • Coaching and mentoring from successful founders and experts.
    • Expert advisory in learning science, product development, marketing, sales, and talent management.
    • Access to a community of practice for product testing.
    • Networking opportunities with other EdTech founders.
    • Access to up to USD 100,000 non-equity grant.

Research Fellowships and Grants

Several research-focused programs are inviting applications, providing funding and support for African researchers.

  • Moving Minds Alliance Research Fellowship (2025-2026): This program supports researchers from the Global South focusing on young children (0-8 years) and their caregivers in emergency contexts, particularly climate emergencies. Five fellows will be selected for a 12-month study period, receiving a one-time stipend of US $5,000 for research activities.
  • Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) (2025-2026): This two-year research and policy development fellowship is designed for young African researchers interested in improving education policy through evidence-based research. Fellows will receive a $35,000 research grant and up to $25,000 for mentorship, training, and travel.

International Opportunities and Skill Development

Nigerians also have access to international programs and skill-building initiatives.

  • Nigerian English Language Assistants in France: This program offers Nigerian students studying French the opportunity to work as English language assistants in France for seven months. It provides international professional experience and enhances linguistic and cultural proficiency.
  • Caution on 3MTT Laptop Grants: It is important to note that the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program is NOT accepting applications for laptop grants. Claims circulating on social media regarding such grants are false and should be disregarded to avoid phishing scams.

Other Notable Calls for Applications

Beyond these highlighted programs, numerous other opportunities are available, covering a wide range of fields:

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Growth: Programs like the SMEDAN GrowHER Accelerator for women-led businesses and the Business Growth Initiative for Startups (BGIS) are open for applications.
  • Scholarships and Internships: Opportunities such as the LearnPally Undergraduate Scholarship for Nigerian students and the ExxonMobil Internship Program are available.
  • Sector-Specific Initiatives: Calls for applications include those for clean energy transition projects, human rights and civil society support, and various initiatives in agriculture, health, and technology.
