The Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) is now accepting applications from small businesses and not-for-profits affected by Tropical Cyclone Jasper (13-28 December 2023) for its Extraordinary Disaster Recovery Grants program. This program, provided under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, aims to assist communities in recovering from eligible disasters.
The Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Grants Scheme offers special financial support to primary producers for cleaning up and restoring their enterprises that have directly suffered damage due to eligible disasters. The maximum grant amount available is $75,000, with an initial claim of up to $10,000 supported by evidence of direct damage and subsequent claims of up to $65,000 requiring full evidence of payment.
The grants cover various costs associated with cleaning up and reinstating primary production enterprises, including safety inspections, equipment rentals, purchasing essential cleaning materials, hiring cleaning personnel, debris removal, repairing buildings and fittings, and more. Eligible applicants must be primary producers located in the defined disaster area, with an ABN, directly affected by the disaster, responsible for claimed costs, and intending to rebuild in the disaster area.
