The House of Human Sciences Foundation and the Arab Council for the Social Sciences have announced the opening of applications for their collaborative program, the “Short-Term Postdoctoral Mobility Fellowship Program in the Social Sciences and Humanities,” with a deadline of December 9, 2024.
This initiative aims to support postdoctoral scholars from Arab countries by providing them opportunities to conduct research in France and fostering research collaborations between Europe and the Arab region.
Applicants are required to submit a detailed research proposal outlining the aims, methodology, and expected outcomes of their projects, as well as a comprehensive plan of activities during their fellowship period in France. The selection committee will prioritize candidates who demonstrate a strong rationale for choosing a specific host institution in France.
Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of €1,800 to cover living expenses and research costs, along with support for travel arrangements and visa processing. The fellowship offers two periods for residency in France, between April-June 2025 or September-November 2025, with a minimum stay of two months and a maximum of three months.
Eligibility criteria include citizenship or residency in an Arab country, completion of a PhD in the social sciences or humanities within the last six years, and affiliation with a research institution in the Arab region. Applicants must also secure a commitment from a French research institution to host them during their fellowship.
The selection process emphasizes the quality and originality of the research proposal, the applicant’s academic credentials, the relevance of the chosen host institution, and the expected outcomes of the fellowship. Application requirements include a CV, a copy of the PhD diploma, proof of Arab country citizenship or residency, letters of support from the French host institution and the applicant’s affiliated institution in the Arab region.
