The Medium Grants Program of the International Climate Initiative in Germany provides support to civil society organizations based in Germany. These organizations, in partnership with local entities in eligible countries, work on projects related to climate action, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. The program aims to enhance the capacity of civil society actors to contribute to the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The 2024 funding call emphasizes two main thematic priorities: promoting participatory measures for greenhouse gas emissions reduction and implementing biodiversity preservation measures in urban areas. Projects selected for funding will have a budget ranging from EUR 300,000 to EUR 800,000 and a duration of 24 to 36 months.
Eligible applicants include non-profit civil society organizations, academic institutions, and non-profit enterprises that meet specific criteria. Projects must be implemented in countries classified as Official Development Assistance-eligible by the OECD. The program does not fund institutional or research projects primarily focused on Germany.
