The U.S. Embassy in Algiers is excited to announce the annual Fulbright competition for Algerian scholars for the academic year 2025-2026. The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Award offers Algerian scholars the chance to conduct research at a U.S. university for three to six months. Candidates with a strong commitment to utilizing the research program at a U.S. institution and sharing their knowledge upon returning to Algeria will receive preference. In addition to benefiting the scholar, the program aims to enrich the scholar’s home university, its students and faculty, and the host U.S. institution. Fulbright scholars are expected to act as cultural ambassadors, representing their country, culture, and research to various academic and community groups.
Eligibility criteria include Algerian citizenship, a Ph.D. degree or equivalent professional experience, proficiency in English suitable for the proposed research project in the U.S., a detailed research activity plan, and a certification of good health. Individuals with permanent U.S. residency or citizenship are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must provide a detailed project statement, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, a bibliography related to the research proposal, an invitation letter from a U.S. university or institution specifying the academic year, copies of their doctoral degree and transcripts, as well as a copy of their passport bio page. For further details, interested individuals can visit the U.S. Embassy in Algeria’s website.
