The Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme (SGP) provides funding to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in developing countries to address global environmental issues while supporting local sustainable development needs. In its 7th Operational Phase, the SGP aims to encourage innovative and inclusive projects that can be replicated, fostering local partnerships to tackle environmental challenges in key terrestrial and marine areas. Interested institutions are invited by UNDP/UNOPS to submit project proposals focusing on environment and climate change for implementation in specific landscapes in Sofala and Maputo provinces. Each project can receive a maximum of $20,000 in funding and must be completed within 12 months starting from the contract signing date, with implementation scheduled for 2024-2025. To be eligible, applicants must be national CSOs/OCBs/NGOs/academic institutions meeting specific criteria, including registration status, relevant focus areas, local operation within designated landscapes, and proposal budget not exceeding $20,000. Further details can be found on the UNDP website.
