Hunger Relief in Lagos: NGO Reaches 300 Households with Food and Health Support

Dated: May 11, 2026

A non-governmental organisation, Deborah’s Impact Project Global, has provided food items and free medical services to around 300 vulnerable households in the Oniru community of Lagos. The outreach initiative was designed to support widows, elderly individuals, and low-income families struggling with economic hardship.

The programme included the distribution of food packs alongside basic medical screenings such as blood pressure checks and blood sugar tests. The medical services were delivered in collaboration with partner healthcare organisations to ensure that beneficiaries also received essential health support.

According to the organisation’s Programme Director and Head of Administration, the initiative was created in response to rising hunger and healthcare challenges in the community. The NGO stated that its primary focus is addressing food insecurity in line with global development goals, particularly efforts aimed at reducing hunger and poverty.

The organisation highlighted that many Nigerians are living below the poverty line and that vulnerable groups, especially women and elderly individuals, are most affected. It also noted that its food assistance programme primarily targets widows, as they often bear responsibility for supporting entire families.

Deborah’s Impact Project Global explained that it relies on individual and partner contributions rather than government funding. It acknowledged support from partner organisations that helped provide food supplies and medical assistance during the outreach programme.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the assistance provided relief during difficult economic conditions. Some also pointed out challenges in transportation to reach the distribution venue.

The NGO stated that its long-term goal is to expand its outreach programmes to reach more households, as demand for food and healthcare support continues to increase.
