The United Nations Development Programme, in collaboration with Eco House Global, has launched the Youth for Climate Action course, an online educational programme available in English and Spanish on the Learning for Nature platform. The free, self-paced course is designed to provide young people with foundational knowledge on climate change while empowering them to take action and advocate for change within their communities.
Young people, who make up half of the global population, are expected to face significantly higher exposure to extreme weather events compared to previous generations, yet they are often excluded from climate decision-making processes. The course aims to address this gap by offering accessible climate education resources and creating a global platform for knowledge exchange, connection and collaboration among youth.
Drawing on the experience of UNDP, Eco House Global and regional partners in Latin America and the Caribbean, the programme incorporates best practices and is designed by youth for youth. It equips participants with practical skills to engage in climate policy and action at both national and international levels, covering topics such as climate science, governance frameworks, and pathways for civic participation.
Initially launched in Spanish and attracting over 4,000 participants, the course has now expanded to include an English version, significantly broadening its global reach and enabling more young people to engage in climate advocacy and leadership.
