ASEAN Member States (AMS) will convene virtually for a two-day ASEAN Climate Week in Manila, Philippines, on 29–30 April 2026 to strengthen regional cooperation on climate finance and improve how countries integrate climate risks into national economic planning. The initiative is led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Department of Finance, with support from the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Canada.
The event is designed to help participating countries move beyond climate commitments and focus on practical implementation. It will provide guidance on improving climate finance planning, tracking financial flows, and using digital tools to support evidence-based policymaking that benefits citizens and strengthens national resilience.
On the first day, discussions will focus on national climate finance frameworks across ASEAN, including strategies for adaptation finance and systems for monitoring climate-related funding. Countries will share experiences on mobilising both public and private investment to support climate action and sustainable development goals.
The second day will focus on climate-economy modelling tools that help governments assess the economic impacts of climate change, understand long-term costs, and evaluate the benefits of transitioning to greener development pathways. These tools are intended to support more informed and data-driven decision-making across the region.
The programme will also encourage knowledge sharing on innovative financing approaches and opportunities for regional collaboration. To enhance engagement, a live visual artist will illustrate key ideas from discussions in real time through doodle art, helping to capture and communicate the main insights of the event.
The ASEAN Climate Week is supported through the Climate Finance Network, a UNDP initiative that works across Asia and the Pacific to mobilise climate finance, and the Accelerating Green and Climate Finance project in the Philippines, which promotes gender-responsive and nature-based solutions with support from the Government of Canada.
