Lidl GB has announced a further £110,000 donation to local charities through its community investment programme, marking another milestone in the retailer’s efforts to support communities across the United Kingdom.
The initiative involved store colleagues selecting charities within their local areas, with each chosen organisation receiving a one-off donation of £500. In addition, charities connected to the retailer’s Feed it Back programme were linked with participating stores and received £300 Lidl gift cards to help support their activities.
Ryan McDonnell said the company has made significant progress in community investment, helping millions of people in need each year through its food donation initiatives. He added that the latest programme was designed to empower store colleagues to support causes in their local communities while working alongside charity partners to create meaningful change.
The charity programme is delivered in partnership with the community platform Neighbourly, which helps connect businesses with local good causes and supports surplus food redistribution. Over the past decade, the initiative has contributed more than 50 million meals to people in need.
A wide range of organisations have benefited from the programme, including mental health groups, youth sports clubs, and community food hubs operating across the country. According to Lidl GB, the Lidl Community Fund has supported more than 1,900 causes since 2022 and provided over £2.3 million in funding to local charities.
Alongside these efforts, the supermarket chain also runs the Lidl Foodies Programme, which has received an investment of £675,000 since 2024. The programme aims to encourage healthier eating habits among schoolchildren and promote better nutrition through education and community engagement initiatives.
