ANKARA — The ILO Office for Türkiye organized a two-day training programme on 12–13 March 2026 for disability associations to support the implementation of international labour standards and promote disability inclusion in the world of work. Funded by the European Union Delegation to Türkiye under the project Strengthening Social Partners and Civil Society Capacities on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the programme aimed to strengthen civil society organizations working on issues such as disability, women, and youth to better advocate for fundamental principles and rights in employment.
The training included sessions on combating discrimination, ILO’s global framework for disability inclusion, and emerging trends in Türkiye, delivered by ILO specialists. Representatives from Türkiye’s largest trade union confederations—TÜRK-İŞ, HAK-İŞ, and DİSK—discussed challenges faced by persons with disabilities and possible solutions through social dialogue. Experts from the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (TİHEK) and the Association for Combating Mobbing highlighted legal aspects, national legislation, and workers’ rights for persons with disabilities.
Participants had the opportunity to exchange knowledge, review and enhance their institutional work, and develop inclusive employment strategies aligned with international labour standards, emphasizing the prevention of discrimination and the promotion of inclusive workplace policies.
