Across the Asia-Pacific region, nonprofits are facing growing community needs while navigating rapid digital change. To support this transition, Infoxchange launched the Asia-Pacific Digital Transformation Program with backing from Google.org, helping organizations strengthen digital capabilities, leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like Gemini, and increase social impact. The program’s first phase focused on building core digital foundations, including cybersecurity, data management, cloud collaboration, and AI tools, enabling organizations to modernize systems, improve resilience, and enhance service delivery.
The second phase, supported with an additional US$1.5 million from Google.org, focused on driving technology-driven innovation. Selected nonprofits used AI to design solutions addressing social challenges at scale. For example, Pratham Education developed the AI-powered “Anytime Testing Machine,” allowing students to submit handwritten answers and receive personalized feedback, improving learning outcomes. Clean Up Australia created the Clean Up Cam app, which uses AI to categorize and report collected litter, enhancing environmental advocacy. The ASEAN Foundation’s Digital Academy delivers free digital literacy and cybersecurity education with AI-supported self-fact-checking tools, increasing youth digital confidence and online safety.
Other notable initiatives include NWTF’s AI-enabled financial app that provides budgeting insights and loan tracking for women entrepreneurs, promoting financial stability and business growth, and Netsafe’s Scamproof app, which proactively detects and blocks fraudulent websites to protect communities from online harm. These examples demonstrate how nonprofits are translating digital capabilities into tangible social impact, including expanded education access, financial inclusion, environmental action, and community protection.
Infoxchange continues to support organizations through its Asia-Pacific AI Nonprofit Learning Community, offering AI training, mentoring, and localized resources in multiple languages. By equipping nonprofits with ethical and inclusive AI tools like Gemini, the program helps communities not just adapt to digital change, but actively shape a more resilient and empowered future.
